Travellers who book cheap flights to Pisa can expect to have fun sightseeing and eating good food, if one correspondent's experiences are anything to go by.

Simonseeks contributor Anthony Rhodes recounted a trip to the Italian city, a jaunt which also included a visit to Florence.

He said the Piazza dei Cavalieri is the "loveliest square" in the city, adding the tiny Chiesa di Santa Maria della Spina church is a delightful attraction.

Chiesa di San Sepolcro, another religious site, is also worth a look, according to Mr Rhodes.

Food fans are well catered for in Pisa - the Al Vecchio Teatro comes in for particular praise in the article for reflecting local pride in its meals.

Mr Rhodes remarked: "[It] is a place like no other. Try the menu degustazione, which costs €35 (£30), with the excellent house wine.

Of course, no trip to the Italian city would be complete without viewing the Leaning Tower of Pisa - this attraction dates back to 1174 and contains 294 steps.
