Cheap flights to Menorca 'lead to wonderful beaches'

Those who love nothing more than to soak up the sun on golden sands should book cheap flights to Menorca.

Writing for the Times, David Mills revealed the Balearic destination has numerous lovely beaches, perfect for a lazy afternoon during a summer holiday.

He stayed in the southern resort of Cala'n Porter, a family-friendly town which is home to a wonderful cove beach and numerous eateries and bars.

After hiring a car, the correspondent and his family decided to explore the rest of the island, including Cala Turqueta in the south-west.

He later hiked through the destination's inland forest, before arriving in his favourite spot, Sa Mesquida, which he compared to Cornwall due to its rocky coast and quaint houses.

Mr Mills concluded: "[Menorca is] quieter, less developed, less commercialised and far more 'itself' than you might think anywhere in the Mediterranean had a chance of being these days."

Daily Mail journalist Caitlin Davies also recently holidayed in Menorca and said a visit to the island's capital, Mahon, is a must due to its beautiful cathedral and interesting archaeological museum.
