Britons hoping to jet off for a well earned break this winter in order to hit the slopes on their skis and snowboards have been offered a number of cost-cutting tips by one sector commentator.
Serena Cowdy, writing on the online pages of Fool.co.uk, said that it was possible for winter sports fans to spend under £500 per person and still have the trip of a lifetime.
One measure was to avoid peak times such as the half-term breaks, Christmas and Easter vacations - and to also check when school holidays were scheduled in the countries travellers were hoping to visit.
Ms Cowdy added that low-altitude resorts were likely to be cheaper, although there was also the possibility that people would find themselves skiing on grass slopes.
She concluded that where possible, holidaymakers should consider opting for a half-board deal at the hotel to ensure they would get a hearty breakfast before hitting the snow-topped slopes.
Britons could also save money by booking cheap ski flights with budget airline Jet2.com.
Heavy early snowfalls in the US and Europe have recently led to many ski resorts opening their doors early.
