Those who book cheap flights to Split should explore the group of islands found just off the Croatian mainland.
This is what Simonseeks columnist Beate Oera-Roderick did recently and he claimed that it was great fun.
He first headed for Brac, which is found a short distance from Split in the Dalmatian Riviera, where he found a relaxed atmosphere and pretty resorts.
Mr Oera-Roderick suggested energetic holidaymakers will feel at home here, as the best way to explore the island is by bike.
He later hopped over to Hvar, Korcula and Mljet, an island he described as magical.
"Split and Dubrovnik are both excellent starting points, with easy access to the islands," the correspondent explained, adding that forward planning with connecting ferries is important.
Another Simonseeks columnist, Robin McKelvie, has also reported on what people can expect to find after booking cheap flights to Split.
He urged travellers to head for the Riva, where they can enjoy a "top-notch seafood feast" in one of the many welcoming restaurants.
