Holidaymakers in the UK are unlikely to sacrifice their annual vacation, but may now be on the lookout for alternative destinations in order to get the most for their money, one sector commentator has claimed.
Frances Tuke, a spokesperson for the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA), explained that Britons were keen to safeguard their once a year getaway and that factors such as the euro and dollar exchange rates would have an effect on where they went.
She added that people may be less likely to enjoy a domestic vacation as the weather in the UK over the past two years had not been great.
"It's as much about destinations as the tour operators people choose to book with," Ms Tuke noted.
Britons may be pleased to hear that they could get good value with budget airline Jet2.com to a variety of destinations by booking cheap flights from Leeds Bradford, Belfast, Edinburgh, Blackpool, Manchester or Newcastle.
According to a survey by the ABTA, 83 per cent of respondents who have been on a recent overseas holiday are planning to take another one in the next 12 months.
