The first wave of cabin crew members to earn a permanent contract from Jet2.com, following a cabin crew training course at Skipton’s Craven College, were showing off their wings at a graduation ceremony this weekend.

The 25 new cabin-crew members, ranging from ages of 18-40 years-old, were the first to come from Jet2.com’s commitment to create 100 more jobs in the air. Jet2.com, based at Leeds Bradford airport, have teamed up with Craven College to launch a cabin crew training course that will have a guaranteed fixed-term contract for all who complete the programme.

This first group of 25 cabin crew members will be split between the Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Newcastle and East Midlands airports.

“Fantastic to see these new recruits receiving their wings”

Ian Doubtfire, managing director of Jet2.com is quoted in the Yorkshire Evening Post as saying: "Our cabin crew are central to our business and play a hugely important role when it comes to the leading customer service that we pride ourselves in offering. It is fantastic to see these new recruits receiving their wings.

"We are dedicated to playing a positive role in the communities where we are based and this recruitment drive has provided local people of all ages with the opportunity to start their career in the travel industry.

"We have been overwhelmed by the response that we received and hope to be able to offer a similar scheme on an on-going basis."

One of the successful applicants celebrating her new role was Diane Hawkins who felt that “Jet2.com's guarantee of a fixed-term contract was a great incentive to just get out there and be trained in a profession."
