You could be joining a throng of Brits this summer if you book cheap flights to Tenerife after the sun-drenched Canary Island resort once again ranked number three in the list of most searched for destinations online.

The list, compiled every month by Skyscanner, saw the top seven destinations remain the same and the top ten dominated by Spanish resorts.

The attraction of cheap flights to Tenerife is obvious. With glorious weather year-round, a combination of sun, sea, sand and sangria has made the resort eternally popular with families as well as groups of friends.

The rugged coast, which has been etched from volcanic activity, offers a dramatic backdrop to the many stretches of golden sand that decorate the coast. In fact, heading inland is becoming as popular as lazing on the beaches for visitors arriving on cheap flights to Tenerife.

The obvious attraction is Mount Teide, standing at 3,715m (12,402 ft) in height, making it Spain’s highest peak! Taking a cable car into the mountain is the perfect way to appreciate the beauty and charm of Tenerife from a high vista.

Martin Hesp gave his verdict of Tenerife’s rugged outcrop in an article for Simonseeks.com. He said: “Tenerife is not all it’s cracked up to be. In fact it’s a good deal more. Cracked up, I mean. No place in Europe is more cracked and ravaged, thrust asunder, or cleaved apart. As such, the popular holiday isle comes as a spectacular and beautiful surprise.”

It is easy to see why cheap flights to Tenerife were topped only by its Spanish neighbours, Alicante and Malaga, on the mainland.
