Lanzarote is set apart when it comes to vacation destinations as it has a good climate all year round and a dramatic volcanic landscape, one sector commentator has claimed.

Amanda Ellis, contracts manager for alpharooms.com, said that the island had plenty of tourist attractions that holidaymakers may wish to visit and was only 20 minutes from neighbouring Fuerteventura, meaning travellers could explore both in one visit.

"I'd also say that Fuerteventura has the best beaches in Europe. Overall, they offer good value for money in the resorts, not forgetting that everything is tax free," she explained.

Meanwhile, Andreas Caliman, one of seven official tour guides on Fuerteventura, said that the Canary Island had some 3,000 hours of sunlight a year and benefitted from 55 kilometres of coastline.

Discover Lanzarote notes that the last two eruptions on the island occurred in the 18th and 19th centuries and because of the dry climate, the volcanic landscape still appears much the same as it did just after the explosions.
