Away from the major tourist centres, some of the ancient market towns offer a quaint charm that is superseded only by the grandeur of the ancient ruins, particularly of Troy and Telmessos.
Fethiye, on the south coast of Turkey, is a particularly rich spot when it comes to discovering ancient ruins. The resort is actually built on the Lycian city of Telmessos, which gives rise to a veritable network of ruins populated around the resort.

Then there are the ruins of Troy, a dedicated site to the famous and historical city, in the area near to Anatolia.
