Crete Tourism Making Waves in 2010

The holiday season in Crete is slowly getting under way and visitors arriving on cheap flights to the country might notice a rise in tourism this summer if the Greek Tourism Minister is accurate in his predictions.

As the peak summer period for cheap flights to Crete approaches Pavlos Geroulanos is expecting tourism in the region to enjoy a boost this year when compared against 2009.

Mr. Geroulanos is quoted saying: “Many of the messages we have received are positive and, if they are maintained, I believe that we will have a better tourism season than last year.”

Cheap Flights to Crete for Scuba Diving

One of the reasons for the increased tourism this year is the number of people arriving on cheap flights to Crete to enjoy a scuba diving holiday.

Traditionally when thinking of scuba diving holidays or great places to snorkel most people automatically think of Sharm el Sheikh but there is a growing interest in diving holidays in Crete.

Of particular interest are the Minoan settlements and many underwater caves that decorate Crete’s seabed. Furthermore, it is believed that the shores around Crete’s coast enjoy some of the best visibility you will find anywhere.
