From the Air to the Sea: Cheap Flights to Croatia Unlock a Nautical Break

This past Saturday (10th April 2010) saw the start of the Croatian Boat Show, which is fast becoming a major event on the Adriatic Sea. It coincides with the country becoming a more sought after destination for cheap flights to Croatia because of the beautiful azure waters that lap the shores.

Although the start of the 12th annual event didn’t quite reach the same numbers as 2009, there was still enough open water around Split for some 200 boats and over 850 exhibitors.

Boat lovers arriving on cheap flights to Croatia and staying in Split will be spoilt for choice when it comes to things to do and see at the event. During the eight days there will be all kinds of vessels to marvel at as well as some competitions. The parade of the winning boats in the harbour is a particular highlight from the event.

In 2009 there was an estimated 15,500 boats dock-up throughout the week, bringing more than 300,000 visitors to the area.

Mario Babic, state secretary for Sea, Transport and Infrastructure – and who opened the event, said: “Nautical tourism along the Adriatic coast has experienced steady growth in previous years.”

Split is also a beautiful city that attracts numerous visitors of its own accord with amazing ancient architecture nestled in amongst the modern buildings.
