Jet2.com’s flights might be grounded like all other flight operators at the moment but that hasn’t stopped the low cost leisure airline trying to do everything in their power to return stranded holidaymakers home.
Just yesterday (19th April 2010) Jet2.com managed to return 304 ski passengers from Chambery and Geneva to Leeds Bradford Airport and others are being rescued using alternative transport.
Coaches, Planes and Ferries Commissioned to Help
Even though there is light at the end of the tunnel, or in this case through the ash cloud, as some airspace becomes available, Jet2.com remain committed to transporting holidaymakers back home.
So far 70 coaches have been commissioned to bring customers in Spain, Portugal and the Czech Republic back home and chartered flights from Lanzarote, Tenerife and Palma to mainland Europe have been made available. Customers should continue to check the Jet2.com home page where regular updates are provided.
“Extraordinary Circumstances”
Ian Doubtfire, Managing Director of Jet2.com, said: “We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience being felt by our customers and are doing everything in our power to return them to the UK as quickly as possible and my colleagues and I are literally working 24 hours a day to achieve this.
“We are frustrated we can do nothing with our aircraft so we set up an emergency operations centre here in our offices to hire as many coaches as possible and aircraft and ferries where needed to get as many of our passengers back as we can.
"We would like to thank all of our customers for their patience and understanding during these extraordinary circumstances which are beyond our control.”
