Cyprus Becomes a Tourism Student's Paradise

Cheap flights to Cyprus have made the country a popular holiday hotspot for decades but it is now also proving to be the ideal location for tourism students to learn their trade.

Recently 28 travel and tourism students from Weymouth College set up base in Limassol to get a feel for the industry and what is required. During their educational stay they enjoyed guided tours around Paphos and Larnaca too as Cyprus became their classroom.

For six days they absorbed Cyprus’ feel good atmosphere and took the opportunity to mix learning with pleasure. The group visited different types of accommodation, including five star hotels, got involved in a traditional Cypriot folklore night and sampled local music and cuisine.

Janine Hodson, the college travel and tourism programme area manager, said: “This was another very successful trip with all students from our First Diploma and National Diploma courses participating.”
