For months, the pound’s weak performance against the Euro has forced many holidaymakers to avoid the eurozone in a bid to escape high costs. However, cheap flights to Spain, Greece, Portugal and other eurozone holiday hotspots could be back in fashion after the pound recovered against the Euro.

Last summer saw the revival of the staycation as many Brits avoided holidays overseas because of the high prices or took cheap flights to Turkey, Tunisia or Egypt for a less expensive break.

“Customers are flocking to old favourites”

However, although cheap flights to Egypt, Turkey and Tunisia are expected to remain as popular, more Brits will soon be able to start enjoying the sun, sea, sand and sangria of some of Europe’s hottest destinations. Philip Meeson, boss of Jet2.com said:

“It seems the holiday is over for the ‘staycation’. Us Brits really do love our sunshine and with the unreliable British climate, holidaying at home can’t always provide those endless balmy days by the pool which we just love!

“At Jet2.com and Jetholidays.com we have experienced a huge growth in demand for destinations outside of the eurozone such as Turkey and Egypt which offer great value for money...but now the pound is back in rude health this week, our customers are also flocking to old favourites such as mainland Spain, The Balearics, Portugal, Greece and The Canaries.”
