As the summer slowly slips away, attention is turned to the winter sun destinations but that would be at the expense of numerous, glorious autumn break resorts.
In a recent article for the Guardian, Nicola Iseard has championed the autumn break. She has identified a number of hot spots to fly to this autumn, including Croatia, Cyprus and Greece.
“Cool off with a dip in the sea”
Cheap flights to Cyprus are very popular in the summer months but, according to Ms Iseard, the slightly cooler temperature and warm waters make August the perfect time to visit the island. She said:
“Cyprus's southerly position means it enjoys a long, hot autumn, with temperatures well into the 30s. After a day's romp, cool off with a dip in the sea, still blissfully warm at this time of year.”
This mix of cooler weather, with enticingly warm water is also evident in Dubrovnik, Croatia. Tourists arriving on cheap flights to Dubrovnik will find the area calmer in autumn, allowing visitors more time and space to enjoy the many beautiful landmarks the area has to offer – not to mention more space on the beach.
“Tourist crowds have subsided”
Cheap flights to Lanzarote offer tourists another destination that comes into its element in August. As Ms Iseard states:
“Lanzarote has a more desert-like climate than the Mediterranean, and is at its best come autumn: the north-easterly trade winds drop considerably; the sea, heated by the summer sun, is at its warmest; air temperatures still average around the mid-20s and the tourist crowds have subsided.”
