When it comes to Winter Sun, there are few better places for it than Spain and the Canaries in particular. Already Winter Sun searches are on the increase with Tenerife taking its place near the top as usual.
However, with August seeing some 22 million people arrive on their holidays, cheap flights to Spain look set to be popular again this winter.
African Conditions in the Canaries
During August, tourists arriving on cheap flights to Spain increased by 3.7% when compared with the same period in 2009. Amongst them, passengers arriving in Las Palmas, Majorca grew by 4.7% and in Tenerife and Gran Canaria by 4.5%. Malaga recorded the biggest percentage increase, rising by 8.8%, but is clear to see that holidays in the Canaries remain very popular.
Holidaymakers will find that Tenerife, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria enjoy near year-round sunshine because of their close proximity to the African continent.
These favourable conditions are reflected on Majorca, the darling of summer and winter holidays for Brits. Cheap flights to the Canary Islands or the Balearics look set to continue Augusts’ popularity this winter.
