New data from Hitwise puts Spain at the top as the most popular country searched for, for flights in the UK between May and July 2010. It comes as little surprise considering destinations like Tenerife, Malaga and Alicante featured highly on the searches.
In fact, New York topped the list as the most searched for destination, accounting for 3.89% of all UK searches during that period. However, as a country, Spain won the plaudits.
Five Destinations in the Top Ten
Spain earned 16.59% of all searches during the 12 week period. It testifies to the country’s appeal as a summer sun destination but, with the great weather set to continue into the winter, it is expected that cheap flights to Spain will remain popular.
In the top ten destinations, cheap flights to Tenerife, Malaga, Alicante, Barcelona and Majorca all featured, cementing Spain’s position as the most searched for cheap flights destination.
The short haul flight times, great value flight prices and range of places to fly to and stay at has helped to make Spain popular with holidaymakers searching for cheap flights.
