Chamonix in France is celebrated as one of the best places for skiing and snowboarding and it is expected that the area will be invaded by throngs of adrenaline junkies this winter. However, a recent article in the Mirror newspaper has highlighted the area’s all-year round appeal.
Whilst predominantly seen as a ski and snowboarder’s paradise the article in the Mirror identifies it’s a “year round destination” due to the numerous other sports available.
A Picture Perfect Place to Stay
Visitors arriving on cheap flights to Geneva will find Chamonix is only an hour away in the car and those arriving out of season will find a picturesque landscape waiting to be explored.
For the thrill seekers there is “paragliding, mountain biking or rock climbing”, but for “those after gentler pursuits [they] can hike the nature trails - or take the cable car to the summit.”
The area sits at the bottom of the Mont Blanc mountain, which, when not blanketed in a layer of pure white snow, exudes a picture perfect panoramic. This has made treks and walks through the valley of Chamonix very popular.
When the ski season begins, this beauty remains, only shimmering in a different light as excited tourists visit the area and take to the slopes.
