A skiing holiday can be for all the family as well as groups of friends eager to get a mix of slopes and Après ski. Family’s looking for a resort to accommodate this should look at cheap flights to Chambery or Geneva for a stay in Chamonix.
Despite being known as one of the leading ski resorts in the world, Chamonix has a quieter side, ideal for parents to introduce their children to the slopes.
“Another "famille plus" resort”
In a recent article for the Guardian travel section, Gemma Bowes waxed lyrical about the merits of Les Houches in the Chamonix village. She described Les Houches as being “much more low-key and family friendly than its intimidating neighbour”.
Amongst its many appealing features for families is the number of attractions aimed at children and adults to enjoy, as well as the skiing and snowboarding. She said:
“Another "famille plus" resort, Les Houches is a small town in the Chamonix valley, and much more low-key and family friendly than its intimidating neighbour, which is full of die-hard off-pisters. Afternoons can be spent at the husky dog park, goat farm, mountain railways and a tree-top adventure playground.”
