According to the European Union’s Environment Commissioner in Brussels, if it is clean beaches you want this winter then head to the Canary Islands.
The authority has described the Canary Islands’ beaches as some of the cleanest around, particularly those on Tenerife. The island sits very close to the African continent so it enjoys exceptional weather all year round. It also offers a blend of volcanic black, golden and white sand, just to give you plenty of choice when you arrive on cheap flights to Tenerife.
North and South Differences
The majority of Tenerife’s most popular beaches cluster around the southern area of the island with Playa de Las Teresitas (near to Santa Cruz), Playa de Las Americas and Playa de La Arena amongst the most popular beaches for visitors and locals alike.
However, away from the beaches and following a venture north, holidaymakers will find a different landscape adorning part of Tenerife’s 220 miles (358kilometres).
Because this area is closer to the volcano, there are more sheer drops and rugged, rocky outcrops. It gives the north of Tenerife a very dramatic landscape and plenty for visitors to explore.
