Ski enthusiasts can experience the Kandahar world cup by booking a cheap flight to Chambery this January 2011.

Since 2008, the Kandahar world cup hasn’t featured in Chamonix because of the 2009 world championship that took place in Val d'Isere and last year’s winter Olympics in Vancouver. However, preparations for this year’s Kandahar Championship are being applied with finishing touches to make sure that the event will be bigger than the previous ones.

Adding the Finishing Touches

The downhill and super combined (slalom and downhill) will take place on the famous Verte des houches – one of the only two pistes for the men’s Downhill World Cup circuit approved by the FIS in France – on the 29 and 30 of January 2011.

With proper logging, mowing and general landscaping, Les Houches is being prepared for the prestigious events. There is even preparation for the event’s televising with technicians will placing 50 kilometers of cables and will check over-the-snow production systems to ensure that the event will run smoothly as planned.

Road works are currently underway to create a new interchange on the Autoroute Blanche, adding a new exit. This exit will be closer to the Chamonix resort and will be accessible for the resort’s guests - it will provide a more direct way of arriving by the Bellevue cable car.
