When it comes to après ski, there are many great resorts but few better than Zermatt which, according to the Four Seasons Magazine, is amongst the best in the world.
In fact, in an article led by outdoor sports writer Larry Olmsted, Zermatt is the only European resort to make it onto the list of top après ski resorts. With such a celebrated reputation it isn’t hard to see why cheap flights to Geneva and Chambery are so popular.
“The most picture-perfect alpine village”
Zermatt sits in a fortunate area, surrounded by the Alps and with great views of the Matterhorn. A dazzling array of bright lights identifies where this popular resort sits and the sound of music, laughter and chatter can be heard late into the night. Mr. Olmsted commented on this by saying:
“The most picture-perfect alpine village in all the Alps, Zermatt remains special by taking steps like banning cars from its main street—and the village basks in the shadow of the Matterhorn.”
The resort is also celebrated for offering more than just great bars and restaurants as Mr. Olmsted points out:
“The sophisticated set heads for cocktails with live music at clubs such as the Pink Elephant Jazz and Piano Bar. Shopping is a beloved après-ski pastime with upscale shops laid out along the main street, the Bahnhofstrasse.”
Cheap flights to Geneva unlock this après ski wonderland, as well as some excellent slopes for skiing and snowboarding. Plus, until 31 October 2010 skiers and snowboarders can get free ski carriage on all flights booked from Leeds or East Midlands to Geneva or Chambery.
