Verbier, one of the leading ski resorts, has announced its opening for this Friday. Despite the low snow fall in many regions, additional preparations have led the officials in Verbier to remain confident of a successful start to the season. The snowfall has been described as having “more than enough to have fun in”.

Verbier is well prepared to bring in the new season with a line-up of ski and cultural events; most notably, a triple bill in the first week of December.

Art, Food and Santa

They begin on the 1 December 2010 with mulled wine being offered at the tea-room, Gentiana. From the Wednesday to Saturday, visitors can view an exhibition of artwork titled, ‘Portraits de Rhine du Valais’. This offers a striking selection of artwork inspired by the region and its picturesque views.

The week concludes with a festive themed event, ‘St. Nicolas on the Slopes’. Visitors to Chambery or Geneva for Verbier can visit Father Christmas at his ideal winter-sun holiday location from 1:30pm on the ‘Petite Combe’ slope.

In addition to these events, the local restaurants are concluding work on their refurbishments. ‘La Channe’ restaurant is once again ready for you to sample its regional dishes from the Valais, bourguignon and traditional cheese fondues.
