On the other side of the Espace Killy, in Val D’Isere, there is a gathering of famous skiers hitting the slopes but over in Tignes, it is all about the families donning their skis and snowboards to hit a generous covering of snow.
In the run up to Christmas, Tignes has become something of a family getaway with children and parents tackling the 300km of pistes that the resort shares with Val D’Isere.
Ideal Conditions for Families
Due to the vast amount of pistes available it is an ideal resort for families. There are beginner slopes for children taking their first steps onto the snow – and even adults venturing out for the first time! These are then supported by more extensive slopes designed to challenge established skiers.
There is also great scope for snowboarders. This is sometimes something that appeals more to the younger family members so they are well catered for.
With conditions in Tignes currently quite cold, the slopes are in excellent condition. Plus, they are relatively quiet, giving families plenty of space to enjoy the snow and the evening entertainment.
Cheap flights to Chambery and Geneva are ideal for a ski break in Tignes and they start at £14.99 one way and including taxes with Jet2.com.
