A lot is being made of Croatia’s claim to be a leading holiday hotspot in 2011 and it seems like their government is backing this assertion with major investment.

This could see many holidaymakers, taking cheap flights to Croatia with Jet2.com, benefit from improved and new facilities.

The Future Looks Promising

According to Guide2Croatia, the country’s government are committing to 12 projects that would improve the quality of tourism in Croatia. Amongst these projects is a €9 million (£7.66 million) investment for a revamp of Port of Gruz in Dubrovnik and €12 million (£10.2million) on the rebuilding of a pier in Sibenik, roughly an hour from Split.

Split and Dubrovnik are two of the country’s leading bases for tourism. The busy cities, with their amazing beaches and dramatic landscapes, attract throngs of visitors each year to mix a bit of sunbathing with sightseeing.

Last year visitors to the country increased by 7% and this news of investment could attract further tourists in 2011. In fact the latest United Nations World Economic Situation and Progress report suggested that the outlook for Croatia’s economy in 2011 is good.

With cheap flights to Croatia from Jet2.com currently on sale, it presents an ideal time to visit one of Eastern Europe’s holiday gems.
