An unprecedented amount of bank holidays beginning on Good Friday (22nd April 2011) is giving UK holidaymakers more opportunities to enjoy a break this spring.
One destination that seems to be proving popular because of this is Portugal, which has seen bookings for the Easter break increase by 90% this year.
Beautiful Beaches Key to Popularity
Many savvy workers will have realised some time ago that it is possible to enjoy eleven days off work at a cost of three days annual leave. This has prompted people to book extended breaks abroad.
Portugal, with short flight times, the promise of great weather and relaxing towns, is a popular choice with families.
A number of sunshine destinations are experiencing a growth in bookings but it is the Algarve’s reputation that is seeing it top the list of holiday destinations this season.
It is thought that the wonderful soft sand beaches, complemented by white-wash buildings leading to lush golf courses are some of the reasons keeping people returning to the area each year. Add to this a rich yet light diet of fresh fish and delicious meats and everything needed on a holiday is catered for.
Finally, whilst people will be looking to head abroad, short flight times are likely to play a major part in any decisions.
Jet2.com are offering cheap flights to the Algarve throughout this period and the summer.
