Across Europe, various cities stand out as shopping havens, famed for their style and wealth of choice. These, of course, include Paris, Rome, Madrid, London and Barcelona but Amsterdam?
The Dutch capital, according to many, is all about canals, cafes, bikes and booze but as Grant Thatcher from LUXE City Guides writes in the Independent, “beyond the tourist-trampled paths in the old centre lurks a real retail stunner.”
A Luxury Side to Amsterdam
Whilst many people will acknowledge that there is a glut of shops opening their doors to visitors, not many of these are given the same sleek descriptions afforded to those in Paris, Milan et al.
However, Mr Thatcher is looking to change that, identifying the south of the city as the place to be for retail and relaxation. He said:
“While the picturesque Canal Ring's Nine Streets are simply adorable, the city's monied style crew fly under the radar in the residential Old South, with its amazing museums, tree-lined streets, acres of parkland and, of course, bounteous shopportunity.”
Amongst some of the places he identifies are clothing boutiques and plenty of places for some new shoes. It is all complemented by a range of restaurants and eateries to rest the legs after trawling through the streets and shops.
