When you think about the Costa Blanca the things that usually spring to mind are mile upon mile of soft golden beaches, busy restaurants and lively bars - but there’s also another side to explore.
Venture a few miles inland and you’ll come across all sorts of fascinating villages and picturesque market towns, and before long you’ll be driving through spectacular mountainous countryside.
Rojales
Rojales is a typical Spanish village where life rolls along at a slower pace. Here you can stroll the streets, sample a local tapas or two and enjoy a quiet glass of regional wine.
Jalon Valley
The Jalon valley is a great place for a day trip or even a holiday. It offers spectacular scenery and views of the surrounding Bernia mountain range. There are plenty of villages dotted around with many shops, markets, bars and excellent restaurants for you to explore.
Guadalest
Guadalest is a pretty mountain village around 25km inland from Benidorm. It has a population of a few hundred but it’s one of the most popular tourist attractions on the Costa Blanca.
The Waterfalls of Algar
A natural beauty spot situated high in the mountains behind Altea, north of Alicante. A beautiful river tumbles down the mountain in a cascade of waterfalls, and its crystal clear pools are a great way of cooling off.
Wherever you choose to explore, Jet2.com’s cheap flights to Alicante will leave you with more spending money in your pocket - so you can enjoy more of what the Costa Blanca has to offer.
