Britons planning to get the new year off to an exciting start by heading for Europe's ski slopes may wish to plan every aspect of their trip before they jet off, following the advice of one sector commentator.
Writing on the online pages of the Times, Steve Keenan said that sports enthusiasts who visit ski and snowboarding resorts in the Alps may find certain things expensive.
As a result, he admitted that he was glad he pre-booked lift passes and ski and boot hire when he recently went on his own winter sports holiday.
"There were 12 of us skiing over Christmas and it was superb - four beautifully sunny days with excellent snow," Mr Keenan noted.
He added that there were currently a lot of discounted January ski getaway packages available.
