When it comes to ski and snowboarding holidays, British sports enthusiasts continue to make Europe a popular destination for hitting the slopes, one sector commentator has claimed.
Carrie Hainge, brand and product manager from the Ski Club of Great Britain, said Val d'Isere and Tignes in France and Austria's Ischgl, St Anton and Kitzbuhel were all big hits with Brits wishing to see out their winter on the piste.
"Europe will still prove popular because it is an area easy to access from the UK. For people who have young children, it's not the long flight [that would be experienced] if you would travel to Canada or America," she added.
However, Ms Hainge asserted that there were ways holidaymakers could keep the cost of their getaway to a minimum, such as eating a packed lunch or buying meals in the resort, rather than on the slopes or in a restaurant.
Another way may be to book cheap snowboarding flights with budget airline Jet2.com.
According to the Ski Club of Great Britain's Snowsports Analysis 2008, since 2000-01 the snowsports travel market has grown by almost 23 per cent.
