Book a Flight to Paris - The Paris City Guide
If you're looking to take a cheap flight to Paris, our Paris city guide has all you'll need to know about this fantastic city, and more.
Eating
Budget: Chartier, 7, Rue du Faubourg, Montmartre,
75009 Paris (Tel: 01 47 70 86 29) Daily 11.30am-3pm & 6-10pm. Dark-stained
woodwork, brass hat racks, waiters in long aprons – always busy and
the food here is very cheap and good value.
Mid-Range: Altitude 95 (up the Eiffel Tower),
Champ de Mars, 75007 Paris, Metro: Bir Hakeim.
Absolutely fantastic view while you have your lunch (with a glass of champagne
- well you've got to, haven't you!). Memorable experience and ever so romantic!
Then, after lunch or drinks you can take in the beauty of Paris from one of
the best landmarks in the world.
Luxury: Au Vieux Paris d'Arcole, 24 Rue Chanoinesse,
75004 Paris, (Tel: +33 140517852) Very romantic with stunning plush interiors
and only a stone's throw from the River Seine and Notre Dame. Housed in a
16th century building, you are seduced by its magnificently plush yet cosy
interior although it is almost invisible from the street outside. You must
try the famous 10 course menu, which allows you to savour the best gastronomic
delights this beautiful city has to offer.
Drinking
Budget: Bar International (Bar Dix), 6 Éme
Arrondissement,10 Rue de l'Odéon, (Tel: 014 326 6683) Open: 5.30pm-2am
(happy hour 6-9) Bar International is known by locals as 'Bar Dix' as it is
number 10, Rue De L'Odeon. Nearest metro 'Odeon' (by the cinemas - 2 mins
walk). Run by a couple of real characters, it is a two storey bar with an
amazingly atmospheric basement, a juke box loaded with a variety of 1970s/80s
music and the best sangria in Paris! Here is a really informal, fun bar with
table candles melting down the neck of wine bottles, low lighting, good music
and the background 'rumble' of many different languages.
Mid-Range: Bar Le Forum, 4 Bd Malesherbes, Paris
8, (Tel: 01 42 65 37 86)
If you want somewhere off the beaten track, but still central, this is the
place to go for cocktails. It has a relaxing atmosphere; both cosy and comfortable
seating areas, and personal attention from the waiters. The ambience is intoxicating
- particularly with about 20 pages of cocktails - it's a book, not a menu
- there are non-alcoholic ones if you so desire!
Luxury: The Buddha Bar, 8 Rue Boissy d'Anglas,
Paris, (Tel: 01 53 05 90 00) Incredibly chic bar - you feel like you are in
a different world and it just proves that the Parisians 'do cool' the best.
Perfect atmosphere with a huge Buddha statue.
