What's On In Reus
June
Summer Festival of Reus
Reus
The festival begins on the 24th of the month with a 'Tronada' - which is a selection of planned explosions linked with firecrackers so you will be sure to experience a fiery celebration. After this there are five more days of celebrations including parades in fancy dress, workshops, magic shows and folkloric events. It is a vibrant and colourful few days that will offer you an experience you will treasure for life. Visit www.cultourabcn.com for more information.
FEC Reus European Short Film Festival
Reus
This event, which began in 2001, is a celebration of cinema and short films and attracts artists, directors and actors from across the world each year. This is a fantastic event for film lovers eager to experience a different culture on the big screen.
July
Anada a l'Antiga
Reus
A rather bizarre celebration of the annual first bath in Salou. It is a throw-back to the early Twentieth Century when residents of Reus would travel to Salou for the first day of summer and to lounge in the sea. Today, you will see crowds trundling through the streets clad in vintage swimsuits to suit the era before enjoying a day on the beach.
Oct-Nov
COS - Festival of Mime
Reus
This is a rather different festival to the commonplace kind but nevertheless offers an intriguing spectacle. Furthermore, it is a wonderful example of the diversity of Cataluyan culture.
Bi-annual (every odd numbered year)
Biennals Internacionals de Fotografia Medalla Gaudi
Reus
Every odd numbered year an exhibition is held to celebrate photographic art in the same guise as Antoni Gaudi. The celebration is closed with the presenting of the Medalla Gaudi to the leading artists. This is another opportunity to indulge in the rich culture of the area and, should a stay from cheap flights to Reus coincide with this event, it is worth a visit.
