Eating

There is a variety of different cuisines to sample when on a break in Rhodes. The local restaurants are know as Tavernas which can be found all over the island. The real traditional Greek taverns are in the smaller villages and are worth a visit whilst on holiday here. To find a traditional Greek tavern firstly see who else is sat eating. If the conversations are mainly in Greek then you have found one favoured by locals which is a great start. Then make sure there are no brightly coloured menus positioned outside offering cheap Greek dishes. Some traditional Tavernas don't even have menus - especially not in English! Once you have found a traditional Tavern, find a table, sit down and take your time eating. Locals will not rush their food so just sit back, relax and most important of all - enjoy!

If you would prefer some variety from the traditional Greek cuisine, Rhodes Town and Lindos offer a wide range of international as well as Greek restaurants offering a variety of dishes. As with other Greek Islands, restaurants in Rhodes will offer a large selection of fresh fish dishes which should be sampled.

Budget: Dolci Dolci - Great value food especially for breakfasts. This cafe is located in the Waterside Shopping Centre so be sure to pop in and try one of their fantastic cakes with a coffee.
