Courchevel 1850 is the luxury playground for the rich and famous, considered by many to be the top ski resort in the world. The hotels, chalets, restaurants and bars include some of the most expensive in the Alps – but don't stop reading just yet…! You don't need to be an oil tycoon to holiday in the valley – particularly in the lower resort villages, and the atmosphere is only exclusive if you choose those places which offer it as such.

Charming Surrounding Villages for Exploring Whilst on a Ski or Snowboarding Break in Courchevel

Each of the linked villages – commonly referred to by their heights – have their own characteristics. Courchevel 1850 is the livliest and most expensive. Courchevel 1650 (Le Moriond), out on a limb on the hillside opposite the other villages, used to be extremely bland but has become increasingly popular, receiving significant investments and an ‘extreme makeover' with many new wooden chalets appearing along the way. Courchevel 1550 is small and quiet, but has excellent links to 1850 and the main pistes – representing good balance between access and price for your trip. Courchevel 1300 (Le Praz) is the original village and is therefore the most authentic looking, as well as being relaxed and informal. All great for a France snowboarding trip. Last but not least is La Tania – a recently established satellite village, built for the 1992 Olympics, with its own charming collection of chalets nestled amongst the pine-trees, and rumours of a raucous après-ski scene hardly imaginable for such a serene setting.
