Val D’Isere is the main part of the Espace Killy, which it shares with purpose-built Tignes. The valley is regarded as the ‘Most Beautiful Ski Area in the World’ and it isn’t hard to see why during a ski break in Val D’Isere.

Its stone and wooden chalets and buildings stretch across the valley, ordered by rows of pine trees whilst eight main ski lifts and a free bus service provide easy access to the 300km of pistes during a skiing weekend here. Many of the runs, which suit all levels of ability, in the Espace Killy reach altitudes of 1550 metres to 3456 metres in altitude.

Plus, the location of the resort means that it is only just over 2 hours from Chambery Airport and just over 2 and a half hours from Geneva Airport. This makes cheap ski flights to Chambery and Geneva from Jet2.com ideal to unlock this premier ski resort.

Skiing for All Levels of Ability in Val D’Isere

The excellent skiing and snowboarding conditions found on a ski break in Val D’Isere, not to mention the lively après ski, has made it a playground for groups of friends and youngsters either learning to ski or, for the more experienced, making the most of the seven black runs and 18 red runs.

Ski schools have also made Val D’Isere popular with families. The lessons learnt from experienced ski instructors can be put to good use on the Solaise which has good slopes for beginners and intermediates.

Val D’Isere boasts two other main areas for skiing. Bellevarde has a good variety of slopes designed more for the experienced skier and offers excellent views of the Grande Motte, Grand Casee and Mont Blanc. The Fornet/Iseran/Pisailles area also has some excellent views – you’d be hard pressed not to find great views anywhere here – and is another favourite for intermediates. Across these areas, experienced skiers will find plenty of off-piste terrain too during a ski break.

You’ll find that the Italian border is only three miles away, so a visit there isn’t out of the question.

Indulging in the Apres Ski on a Ski Break in Val D’Isere
